Tell us briefly about your story in the book, and what is the inspiration behind it?
My story is about a creepy boy who spends a bit too much time on the internet looking up dubious things. His parents often leave him with the maid and go off gallivanting to the hills, but one weekend they are forced to bring him along. At the guesthouse in Cameron Highlands, he meets the twin children of the caretaker and discovers a horrible event that took place in the past. I was inspired by the old, creepy, obviously haunted guesthouses in Cameron Highlands.
What is the most difficult part of writing that story?
I didn’t plot the story out and basically discovery wrote it, so I had to go back to plug in the plot holes. Otherwise I had fun writing this story.
What can the reader expect from you in the near future? Is there any book/story/work coming out soon?
I have a time-travelling children’s book series out called ‘The Door Under the Stairs’. Four books are out and available at Silverfish and Kinokuniya, and the fifth book will be out later this year. I’ve just finished a novel set in Mount Kinabalu and I’m working on a book about dark folktales of Asia.
